Moab King Air Crash Claims 10 Lives

NTSB Sends Team To Investigate Plane Crash Near Moab, Utah

A tragic accident, reportedly occurring during departure, has brought down a King Air 100 and killed all 10 persons on board.

The Beech King Air A-100 (file photo below) is reported to have impacted the ground close to the runway shortly after departure, Friday evening, from the Canyonlands Field airport, approximately 18 miles northwest of Moab. The aircraft impacted among nearby hills, where it was said to have burned on impact.

Grand County Sheriff James Nyland told media agencies that, "It's just weird. I mean, something happened to make this guy veer left off the runway."

The aircraft was being used to shuttle employees of the Southwest Skin and Cancer/Red Canyon Aesthetics & Medical Spa. The dermatology company travels to 'remote areas' to provide treatment for skin cancer and other ailments.

Confirmed as dead were pilot David White; the company's director, Dr. Lansing Ellsworth, 50, and his son Dallin Ellsworth, 23; David Goddard, 60, and his daughter Cecilee Goddard, 31; Mandy Johnson; Marcie Tillery, 29; Valerie Imlay, 52; Keith Shumway, 29; and Camie Vigil, 25.

The National Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team to investigate an airplane accident in a remote area about 3 miles south of the Canyonlands Field Airport (CNY) near Moab, Utah. The Beech A100 King Air (N601PC) crashed at about 6:15 p.m. MDT last night. The airplane was destroyed by fire. Several fatalities have been reported.

NTSB Investigator Tealeye Corneyo has been designated as Investigator-in-Charge and will lead the two-member team.
