New Cabin Audio Control Unit Introduced By Becker Avionics

ACU6101 Can accommodate Up To Eight Trancievers

Becker Avionics has rolled out its newest Audio Control Unit (ACU) ACU6101 Cabin Audio Control Panel. This new panel design is based on the standard ACU6101 Cockpit Panel ... the ACU6101 Cabin Audio Control Unit, which is the latest addition to the Digital Audio Selector and Intercom System, the DVCS6100. Designed for rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, the ACU6101 Cabin Audio Control Panel is specially optimized for restricted panel size applications and offers up to 8 communication channels, 2 navigation receivers, low power consumption, as well as reduced weight and size. The system offers clear voice communication, a proven Man-Machine-Interface (MMI), outstanding reliability, as well as scalability and flexibility with fully configurable system software.

The ACU6101 is part of the Digital Voice Communication System (DVCS 6100). It serves as a cabin audio control unit for the REU6100 Remote Electronic Unit. A maximum of six (6) Audio Control Units can be connected to one Remote Electronic Unit.

The ACU6101 offers the following control features on the front panel:

  • 1 Rotary switch, 9 positions, to pre-select the active transceiver as well as Public Address or Intercom mode.
  • 8 push button Monitoring switches combined with potentiometers and furnished with an LED indicator for each transceiver.
  • 2 push button Monitoring switches combined with potentiometers for receivers only.
  • 1 VOICE button with LED to switch the ident filter on and off (green LED: filter on, ident frequency 1020 Hz suppressed).
  • 1 ISOL/CALL button with LED's to control the intercom functions between cockpit and cabin area.

Becker says that the DVCS6100 has been designed for both rotary and fixed-wing applications. The main system components of the DVCS6100 system are the Remote Electronic Unit (REU) 6100, the Audio Control Unit (ACU) 6100, and the optional Intercom Amplifier IC3100. The product offers up to 8 communication transmit (TX) and up to 8 receiver (RX) channels, an integrated warning tone generator for up to 8 different signals, an amplifier for 2 cockpit speakers, as well as interfaces for 2 Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR), and a Public Address Amplifier (PA).

Up to 6 ACU's can be operated together with one REU. Each unit can be configured with the included software to give complete adjustments across different on-board systems. The system also meets the highest standards for night operation under NVG and military conditions. The ACU6100 is available with NVIS green (MIL-STD 3009 Green B) and white backlight, and offers emergency and slaved mode operation.
