Avidyne Receives European TSO Authorizations

Avidyne Entegra Release 6.0 and EX500 MFD Receive TSOs From EASA

Avidyne Corporation tells ANN that the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved Technical Standard Orders (TSOs) for the Release 6.0 upgrade for the Entegra integrated flight deck and for the EX500 multi-function display (MFD). The approvals clear the way for Avidyne OEM partners to deliver new Entegra features and open the retrofit market for Avidyne dealers in the growing and important European market.

EASA, Europe’s counterpart to the FAA, is responsible for airworthiness certification of aircraft for all European Union member countries. The EASA TSO (E-TSO) for Entegra Release 6.0 facilitates the approval of type certifications for aircraft equipped with the latest Entegra upgrade. Previous versions of Entegra already hold an E-TSO. For the EX500 MFD, the E-TSO enables aircraft-specific Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) for the popular Avidyne multi-function display.

Introduced last November, Release 6.0 for Entegra provides numerous upgrades to aviation’s best-selling integrated flight deck for light general aviation aircraft, including features tailored for the European market. For pilots, Release 6.0 delivers valuable new display functions, simplifies database updates with USB “flash drive” support and includes multiple “under-the-hood” performance boosts. Release 6.0 also enables OEMs to tailor system options for specific model types.

Entegra consists of at least two 10.4-inch diagonal, high-resolution, sunlight-readable displays, including an EXP5000 primary flight display with integrated solid-state air data and attitude/heading reference system (ADAHRS) and primary engine instruments. The EX5000 MFD provides a full-featured moving map and comes standard with Avidyne’s EMax™ electronic engine instrumentation. European options include digital airborne weather radar system display, and CMax™ Jeppesen JeppView® chart display.

Avidyne’s FlightMax EX500 brings integrated-datalink multifunction display capability, including the largest array of radar and traffic, lightning and terrain sensor interfaces available today, to the flight decks of virtually all business and general aviation aircraft. European options include digital airborne weather radar system display, and CMax™ Jeppesen JeppView® chart display.

“Europe is an important growth market for our OEM partners and for our dealer network,” said Mark Sandeen, Avidyne’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Our existing European Entegra owners will appreciate all the new features in Release 6.0, and many pilots will want to take advantage of the tremendous capabilities of the EX500 MFD now available for most aircraft.”

“The EASA approvals provide significant benefits for our European customers,” said Dan Schwinn, president of Avidyne Corporation. “And it emphasizes our long-term commitment to our European and international customers.”
