Becker Avionics Exhibits New MFD, Transponder, More At AERO Friedrichshafen

Avionics Designed For The GA Market

Becker Avionics plans several product introductions at the AERO tradeshow in Friedrichshafen, Germany, this week. AERO brings together major participants in the European aeronautics sector, mainly for recreational sports aviation. "We value AERO as an excellent venue to reach the European market and to have useful and productive discussions with the end users of our equipment," said Thilo Scheffler, Becker's executive vice president of sales. "At this year's show, we are demonstrating our newest Multi Function Display Concept, the MFD6203, for the first time to our customers in order to acquire valuable customer feed-back. Together with the latest VHF-Com radio, the AR6203, and the Mode-S Transponder, the BXP6403, Becker will be offering a single supplier solution of our renowned quality products in a full VFR avionics suite."

The MFD6203 is a new, state of the art panel mount moving map system in the common 160mm format. Delivery and certification per ETSO C113 is planned for late 2010. The MFD6203 provides a sophisticated moving map solution for VFR flying. Achieving high situational awareness is the goal of the system, realized via various overlays like terrain or weather indications. The system also is capable of providing ADS-B generated traffic information.

Becker Avionics also recently TSO certified a new Mode S Transponder line, the BXP64XX (Class 1 and 2) with designed meet future transponder technology requirements by enhancing safety and situational awareness with aircraft traffic information. The remote-controlled version of the Becker BXP series has been selected by international aircraft manufacturers for "glass cockpit", integrated avionics solutions. The 250 watt (Class 1) model is complemented by the smaller 2.25 inch, 150 Watt (Class 2), single block unit, with extremely low power consumption. This model is particularly suited for light aircraft and gliders. The latest 160mm Dzus mount Mode S Transponder was specifically developed for the retrofit market and replaces the Bendix King KT-76A transponder with the same size panel fit, but with a much shallower depth.

The new high performance, compact, AR 6201 VHF-AM Transceiver features 8.33 kHz channel spacing and integrated voice activated (VOX) intercom system for up to four passengers. Built using state-of-the-art DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, the AR 6201 continues the legacy of its predecessor, the AR 4201 VHF-AM transceiver, which set the bench mark for reliability and performance in its class. With more than 18,000 units sold, the AR 4201 has been the trustworthy companion for thousands of pilots flying millions of flight-hours.

The DVCS 6100 comm system has been designed for both rotary and fixed-wing applications, and fully reflects Becker Avionics' proven know-how of more than four decades in audio system development for the aerospace industry. Since the market introduction of the 1st DVCS generation, almost 700 systems have been placed into service, all having achieved outstanding field reliability. The result of continuous product improvements has made the DVCS 6100 another Becker Avionics success story. The main system components of the DVCS 6100 system are the Remote Electronic Unit (REU) 6100, the  Audio Control Unit 6100-or ACU6101, and the external Intercom Amplifier IC3100. The DVCS' performance and scalability has led to numerous installations in a diverse mix of rotary and fixed wing platforms, including, but not limited to the following models: AS350, BO105, EC135, EC145, MD900, Bell 412, Sikorsky S-70A, DO228, MA-600, Pilatus PC9, L-410, King Air 350, DHC-5 Buffalo, Dash-8, and the C-130.

Becker in also unveiling a new personal locator beacon, the MR 510. It's smaller, lighter, and uses less power than previous models, and features new water activation, V/UHF voice communication, and 12 channel GPS based on the latest technology. The result is the most advanced commercial and military grade PLB available.
