SportPlane Biz Take Note: ANN's SportPlane Resource Guide Surveys Now Underway!

E-I-C Note: Hey Gang... we're about to "get busy" with one of the most aggressive and massive projects we've ever undertaken -- trying to "top" our own SportPlane Resource Guide! If you are in the business, pay attention to this and work with us as quickly and completely as you can.

If you are not in the business, make sure that the companies that YOU work with, or are interested in, participate fully in what will be (yet again) the world's most comprehensive guide to all things "SportPlane." -- Thanks!

If you are a SportPlane related business (especially a manufacturer), you need to take a few minutes and get busy... one of the THE most important tools that you might use for the next few years in reaching your target market, is about to get in gear... and you dare not miss being a part of it.

Read this carefully – this is IMPORTANT.

We have some homework for you -- and we need it done ASAP. There is a good reason for this… as we are now in the midst of compiling the next generation of the world-renowned (really) SportPlane Resource Guide. The SportPlane Resource Guide is THE most comprehensive book EVER done on sport aircraft and it’s assembled by some of the most respected and experienced SportPlane experts in the world.

No kidding… more than 1100 pages, over 800 aircraft, thousands of references and suppliers, dozens of chapters, directories, how-to's… the works. This thing is a monster.

Well over 20,000 copies of the last edition (shown right) went out to people who ponied up $40 bucks a piece to read up on ALL that is SportPlane. Over the years, we've heard from THOUSANDS of them -- and they told us in no uncertain terms that the SportPlane Resource Guide was used as part of their decision-making process as they went out and spent big money in this industry. To those of you who are struggling to survive in this business (in other words… all of us), that means that this book is one of the most important things you need to be a part of… and if you aren’t, you have only yourself to blame.

Don't Be Left Out!
Make Sure Your Aircraft/Business Is In the SportPlane Resource Guide

It's really coming, and sooner than Christmas. Despite the ravages of war, pestilence, roasted (and un-backed-up) hard drives, and everything but a plague of locusts, the SportPlane Resource Guide continues its migration from its last extraordinary edition to a new, improved and superior version—with special emphasis on the Sport Pilot/LSA movement. And best of all… it will be distributed and supported by the most widely read DAILY aviation news service in the world. That means that this thing will have REACH -- ALL OVER THE WORLD.

But... Does It Have YOUR Plane In It?

Use this handy questionnaire. Fill in the blanks and send it to sprg@aero-news.net or snailmail it to: Aero-News Network, ATTN: SPRG Team, POB 9132, Winter Haven, FL 33883.

If you have the specs in an alternative format, it's OK to send that along with the questionnaire rather than fill out every item. BUT, if we ask stuff that's not on your standard spec-sheet, please try to fill it ALL in – think of how it looks when all your competitors have MORE details and info on THEIR birds than you do about yours… get the picture?

The more information available in the Guide, on your products, the more likely people are to follow up. One piece of information that's vital is price; it keeps you and qualified buyers on the same sheet of music. If you think your price may go up soon, or you have a temporary discount, give us the higher regular price. If you lead off with a discount, people will expect it all the time.

The questionnaire, like Caesar's Gaul, is divided in three parts. The first asks information about you and your business (in general). You only need to do this once (well, once for each legal entity that you have selling aircraft -- clear?) This is the most important of the three parts! That's because people will use the phone, fax, web, and email contact information you provide to get in touch with you if they are interested in your aircraft.

A second part asks about each aircraft type that you sell. You need to complete one of these for each machine. This is the part that folks will look at to compare your plane with your competition, so the more information you provide, the better. However, resist that all-too human temptation to "improve" your data; if your builders or buyers meet expected factory numbers, the word gets around and it does wonders for your reputation. (Case Study on honest specs: Van's Aircraft).

We ask you to send pictures to us, as many as you can, and of the best quality possible. The reason is simple: while we prefer to use pictures that we take ourselves, we'll use your art where necessary… and the really GOOD pictures may wind up on the cover of the book. Think of how many aircraft that might sell!

A third part asks about designers -- who designed your aircraft? We just like to keep track of the who's who in this industry. While a few celebrity designers are recognized for their accomplishments, a lot of wonderful aeronautical artists are toiling in undeserved obscurity -- so tell us about them and help us shine a little light on the people that make it all possible. If you're not a vendor of aircraft, per se, but you make or sell engines, avionics, accessories, lots of the questions here won't apply to you. No problem! Tell us what we need to know about your product, and more importantly, what your customers need to know to compare your product to your competitors, and we’ll add it to the supplier’s directory.

Has YOUR SportPlane Been Evaluated By ANN?

BTW... if you have an aircraft that has NOT been flown or completely evaluated by ANN's Flight Test Boss, Jim Campbell, get on the phone right NOW and set up an appointment to do so... these flight tests take a lot of time and we have only a few months left in which to be able to include a flight test review along with your profile in the next edition of the SPRG. Aircraft that earn favorable flight test reviews in the SPRG have benefited VERY greatly from such exposure.

OK… you have your marching orders. Get your data to us ASAP so that we can get this thing done and into the hands of our readers and YOUR future customers, as quickly as we can!

Thanks!
