New 3,000-Foot Runway Started Construction In 2020

The Skiatook Municipal Airport hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, May 14, in honor of the airport’s new 3,000-foot runway. The $2 million project began in 2020 with reconstruction of the existing asphalt runway with concrete and the upgrading of the existing stake mounted runway edge lights to higher quality base mounted fixtures. The grant also included funding for an obstruction survey to aid in the development of new Global Positioning System (GPS) instrument approaches at both ends of the runway. A UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the McAllen Air and Marine Branch of Air and Marine Operations rescued a non citizen migrant, who was found to be unresponsive while the crew was working with USBP agents assigned to the Falfurrias Border Patrol station in tracking a large group in the vast ranch lands of Brooks County, Texas. A McAllen Air Branch based UH-60 crew received of a report of a group of over 33 migrants in the ranch lands near Falfurrias, Texas. While USBP agents on the ground were apprehending the subjects, they informed the UH-60 crew that they had encountered a female that was unresponsive.

CST-100 Starliner Spacecraft Prepares For Oft-Delayed Orbital Flight Test-2

NASA and Boeing are targeting 2:53 pm EDT Friday, July 30, for the launch of the company’s Starliner uncrewed Orbital Flight Test-2 (OFT-2) to the International Space Station. The updated launch target is supported by the station’s visiting vehicle schedule, Starliner readiness, and the availability of the United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket. “NASA and Boeing have done an incredible amount of work to get to this point,” said Steve Stich, Commercial Crew Program manager.

Bell has confirmed that the Bell 407 has received its Type Acceptance Certificate (TAC) in Bailiwick of Guernsey. This milestone will allow more European customers to add the aircraft to their operations. “As the most cost-effective IFR-certified platform, the Bell 407 has more than 6 million global flight hours,” said Duncan Van De Velde, managing director, Europe. “We are thrilled that type acceptance in Guernsey will enable us to begin delivering our newest long light single helicopter to more customers.”

Airplane Impacted The Vegetated Terrain In A Nose-Down, Vertical Flight Attitude

On April 19, 2021, about 1346 central daylight time, a Cessna 340A airplane, N801EC, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Tatum, Texas. The pilot was fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 flight test. According to information provided by a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at the East Texas Regional Airport (GGG), the intention of the flight was to do a functional test of a newly upgraded autopilot system. Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) data showed that the airplane took off from runway 13 at GGG about 1340.
