Sikorsky S-76D Helicopter Achieves Certification In Mexico

Six Aircraft Already In The Pipeline For A Mexican Offshore Transportation Provider

The government of Mexico's civil aviation authority, the Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC), has awarded Type Certification to Sikorsky for its S-76D helicopter. The FAA awarded Type Certification of the S-76D model in October 2012, and the helicopter continues its envelope expansion as the first models move through final modifications for customer deliveries in 2013.

FAA Certifies DFC90 Autopilot In Beech Bonanza Series Aircraft

Installation Approved When Interfaced With Aspen Evolution PFD

The FAA has issued a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to Avidyne for the installation of their DFC90 Digital Autopilot in Beechcraft Bonanza series aircraft when interfaced with the Evolution Pro Primary Flight Display (EFD1000 PFD) from Aspen Avionics. Avidyne previously certified the DFC90 with the Entegra PFD in the Cirrus SR20 and SR22 and with the Aspen PFD in Cessna 182 Skylane series aircraft.

Sandia Aerospace announced today that Midland Instruments, a full-service avionics system repair and maintenance company, has received Transport Canada STC approval for installation of Sandia’s SAC 7-35 to be integrated with Sandel ST3400 TAWS/RMI installations on M7 Aerospace SA226-T and SA226-TC Metro models.

Flyersrights.org, Aviation Consumer Action Project Say Battery Safety Not Yet Proven

Two air- passenger advocacy groups are demanding the U.S. government limit flights on Boeing's Dreamliner until the safety of its lithium-ion batteries is proven. FlyersRights.org and the Aviation Consumer Action Project are petitioning the FAA and the Department of Transportation (DOT) for a two hour limit from the nearest airport for the safety of passengers and crew.

Eclipse Aerospace has named Crownair Aviation in San Diego, CA as an EAI authorized Gold Service Center for both the Eclipse 500 and Eclipse 550 jets. Under this agreement, Crownair Aviation will provide maintenance, inspections, parts and warranty support, as well as AOG services for Eclipse Jet aircraft.

The Wyakin Warrior Foundation (WYWF), a nonprofit organization which provides education and professional development to wounded veterans, in conjunction with the San Diego Leadership Forum (SDLF) and HSC-3, invited 10 Wounded Warriors to spend an evening at the HSC-3 helicopter simulation facility.

Donovan Construction Inc. of Rockledge, FL, to modify the mobile launcher that will enable the agency's Space Launch System (SLS) heavy-lift rocket to send humans on deep-space missions. The work under this firm fixed-price $20.7 million contract will begin in June and be completed in 18 months.

Three members of the International Space Station Expedition 35 crew undocked from the orbiting laboratory and returned safely to Earth Monday, May 13, wrapping up a mission lasting almost five months. The departure marks the beginning of Expedition 36. Space station Commander Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency, Soyuz Commander Roman Romanenko of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) and NASA Flight Engineer Tom Marshburn undocked their Soyuz TMA-07M spacecraft from the space station at 1908 EDT. CAF Announces Search For New National Airbase Location

The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) has announced plans to establish the CAF National Airbase at a major metropolitan area and its intent to launch a nationwide search immediately. The new facility, described by CAF officials as an “Airbase,” will contain a year-round aviation attraction, house CAF Staff and support volunteer CAF members who will organize and execute an annual warbird air show/fly-in.
