Bell Boeing Submits V-22 Osprey Multiyear II Contract Proposal

Proposal Would Extend Aircraft's Production At Least Through 2019

The Bell Boeing V-22 Program has submitted its proposal to the U.S. Navy for a second multiyear procurement (MYP II) contract for the production and delivery of V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft. The five-year, fixed-price incentive proposal presented Thursday would provide the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) with the full complement of Ospreys outlined in the Department of Defense program of record and yield double-digit percentage savings over a single-year procurement strategy.

Desert To Simulate An Asteroid Environment In Upcoming Exercises

NASA is once again taking human space exploration to the Arizona desert in tests to simulate conditions on other worlds. This year, for the first time, the desolate desert landscape will stand in for an asteroid. Visiting an asteroid presents NASA with challenges the agency is only beginning to tackle. Among them are how to travel between sites of interest on an asteroid's surface and how to conduct spacewalks in its microgravity.

U.S. Government, Lockheed Martin Provide "Comprehensive Package"

The Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) unveiled the first four of 24 Lockheed Martin F-16 aircraft in a ceremony Thursday at Ben Guerrir Air Base in Morocco. Senior representatives from the Moroccan and U.S. governments and air forces were present for the historic event.

Manned Missions, When They Happen, Will Launch From Complex 41

When the United States again undertakes manned spaceflight, the CST-100 spacecraft designed by Boeing will launch atop a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket, according to the company. If NASA selects Boeing for a development contract with sufficient funding, ULA will provide launch services for an autonomous orbital flight, a transonic autonomous abort test launch, and a crewed launch, all in 2015.

New Aircraft To Initially Fly Patrol From Mobile, AL

The 12th HC-144A Ocean Sentry maritime patrol aircraft has been delivered to Coast Guard Aviation Logistics Center Elizabeth City, NC, according to prime contractor EADS North America. The aircraft arrived August 3, and will next pass to the Coast Guard’s Aviation Training Center in Mobile, AL, to begin operational patrols.

JMSDF Fleet Grows To Five Aircraft

Becker Avionics said Tuesday it has delivered two additional TH-135 aircraft to the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) with the Becker digital audio system (DVCS6100) installed.

Modification Of Russian Helicopters for Iraq Completed

Twenty-Two Aircraft Delivered For Use By Iraqi Armed Forces

Modifications on 22 Russian Mi-17 Helicopters for use by the Air Force of Iraq have been completed under a 2007 U.S. Army contract, according to contractor ARINC Engineering services. The final two aircraft were handed over to Iraqi representatives in Taji, Iraq on June 15, six weeks ahead of schedule. Last year, ARINC Engineering Services completed a similar upgrade of 10 Mi-17 Helicopters for the Air Force of Afghanistan. Most of the modification work on both programs was performed in UAE.

ANG Staff Sergeant Selected As One Of A Dozen 'Airmen Of The Year'

Pennsylvania Air National Guard Staff Sgt. John C. Norris has been selected as one of the U.S. Air Force's 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year. Norris, 27, of Etters, York County, and the other airmen will be honored in September during the Air Force Association's Air and Space Conference and Technology Exposition in Washington, D.C.

Composite Engineering To Provide The Aircraft In A "Multi-Million Dollar" Deal

The Government of the Republic of Singapore has entered into a multi-million dollar contract with Composite Engineering to supply High Speed Aerial Target Drones to the Ministry of Defence of Singapore. In addition to delivering the BQM-167Xi target drones, the contract will encompass all requisite Ground Support Equipment, Training, Logistics support and spares.

First 787 Dreamliner To Enter Onto Service Sees Daylight

The first Boeing 787 Dreamliner that will enter into service with launch customer ANA rolled out of the paint hangar this weekend. The airplane reportedly bears a special livery 'signifying the core element's of ANA's service brand – innovation, uniqueness and the inspiration of Japan.' "Our teams are making outstanding progress in completing the first airplane to be delivered and achieving certification of the 787," said Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager of the 787 program.

A new national enhanced security screening program for airline pilots entitled 'Known Crewmember' will begin this week at Chicago O’Hare International Airport -- the first of several test sites nationwide.
