The news coming to ANN from the Gordon Bennett Control Centre is
not good. A balloon flying in the Gordon Bennett race designated
USA2, registration N801NM, is still missing as night falls. The
pilots listed on board have been identified as American citizens,
Richard Abruzzo and Carol Rymer-Davis.

North American, European Airports Say They Need More Efficient,
Sustainable Aviation Security
During a joint board of directors meeting of the North American
and European regions of Airports Council International (ACI-NA and
ACI EUROPE), U.S., European, and Canadian airport directors
discussed current aviation security issues.
The FAA announced Tuesday that three additional airport projects
have been selected for funding, paid for with more than $2.5
million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars that
became available because of airport projects that came in under

Short-Haul Turboprop Airliner Deal Worth $200 Million
An agreement signed by European Turboprop manufacturer ATR and
Trinidad and Tobago’s Caribbean Airlines Monday represents a
firm order by the carrier to purchase nine ATR 72-600 aircraft. The
order is reportedly worth $200 million, and deliveries will start
in late 2011.

Vote Expected Wednesday On NASA Funding Legislation
The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote Wednesday
on a Senate bill setting spending priorities for NASA, according to
House Science and Technology Committee chairman Bart Gordon
(D-TN).
The U.S. government says it strongly supports the important work
of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a UN
specialized agency which develops and promotes standards and
practices for the safety, security and environmental sustainability
of international civil aviation.
Teamsters To Airlines: 'We'll Be Watching', SWAPA Says It Is
Focused On Its Pilots' Careers
The Teamsters Union said Monday that it is assembling an
experienced team of experts to ensure its members' jobs and
interests are protected should the proposed merger of Southwest
Airlines and AirTran Airways be approved by federal regulators and
shareholders.

bill at all as the new fiscal year begins. I will continue to
advocate to the Appropriators for the provisions in the Compromise
