Airlines Likely To Keep New Fees

Baggage Check, Other Fees Not Deterring Flying Public

Fees for checked baggage, seat selection, and even pillows do not seem to be preventing people from buying airline tickets, which means airlines are likely to hang on to those fees as a critical revenue stream, analysts say.

Pilatus PC9 Went Down Near The Galway-Mayo Border

An Irish Air Corps instructor and cadet were killed when the Pilatus PC9 they were flying went down in rugged terrain near the Galway-Mayo border Monday. The plane was taking part in training exercises with two other aircraft.

Pilot Caused Damage At Airport With Propwash

The FAA has suspended flying priveleges for Daniel Wayne Davis of Heartland Aviations, LLC for 90 days. The FAA report says Davis allegedly aimed the tail of an airplane at a hanger used by Ada Aircraft Painting, LLC, set the brakes, and ran up the engine.

She And Pilot Were Accused Of In-Flight Sex On Private Jet

A flight attendant who worked aboard Oprah Winfrey's private jet is suing the television talk star after she was fired for allegedly having sex with the pilot while the airplane was in flight.

Continues Trend Of Monthly Notices From The Plane Maker

Some 130 Boeing employees got bad news last Friday. They received notices that they will be laid off in 60 days. The company has been issuing layoff notices every month since January, when it announced it would be idling 10,000 employees company wide.

Gone West: William 'Bud' Evans

Creator Of The Evans Volksplane

William "Bud" Evans, who created the Evans Volksplane, passed away in July of natural causes. He was 96 year old. Evans had been an aeronautical project and design engineer, and created the plans for the kit-built Volksplane back in the 1960's.

"They did the right thing. They held on to an object that helped them all stay afloat for the amount of time they did. It was very lucky for them that it turned out as well as it did." Source: USCG Petty Officer 3rd Class Barry Bena.

The recommended speed contained in aircraft manuals used by pilots when making an approach to landing. This speed will vary for different segments of an approach as well as for aircraft weight and configuration.

Volksplane

It is a very simple airplane of a very clean, simple design, and some say it began the kit-built industry in the United States. As we note the passing of "Bud" Evans, we thought you might be interested in the airplane he designed back in the 1960's, and which remains viable today.
