MountainScope Surpasses 100,000 hours With ADS-B

As noted in our Aero-TV coverage from Oshkosh 2007 (see video attached below), FAA administrator Marion Blakey mandated that ADS-B will be the industry standard for traffic awareness by 2020. This may sound like it's a long ways off, but PCAvionics, publisher of MountainScope moving-map software, has been working with the FAA Capstone program since 2003 to develop display systems for ADS-B. Mountainscope has been ADS-B compatible for four years...

Citation II and Citation SII Re-Engining With Williams Engines

Clifford Development tells ANN that their re-engining projects for the Citation II and Citation SII are on track for an STC in early 2008. When certified, both airplanes will be equipped with Williams International FJ44-3A engines, plus 36 improvements to the airframe and its systems.

Pilots Missing From The Vietnam War ID'd

The Department of Defense POW/Missing Personnel Office (DPMO) have announced that the remains of two U.S. servicemen, missing from the Vietnam War, have been identified. They are Maj. Robert F. Woods, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Capt. Johnnie C. Cornelius, of Maricopa County, AZ, both US Air Force. Cornelius was buried with full military honors on Nov. 10 in Moore, Texas, and Woods' burial is being set by his family.

First Flight Scheduled For May 2008

Pratt & Whitney tells ANN it has delivered the first F135 short-takeoff/vertical-landing (STOVL) propulsion system, including the Rolls-Royce Lift System, to Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, TX. The propulsion system will support airframe and engine interface evaluations for the first STOVL F-35 flight test aircraft, scheduled for first flight in May 2008.
