Named Vought's CFO

Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. today announced it has named Lloyd R. Sorenson joins Vought today and will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Risley.

Sorenson is responsible for all of Vought's financial and business management functions, including creation and implementation of financial strategy, control and accounting policy, treasury, risk management and insurance, budgets, and financial and economic planning and analysis.

Sorenson (right) joins Vought after nearly six years with Dell Inc., where he was most recently controller, Corporate Business Group. He held previous leadership positions with Dell in the Global Sales Division, the International Internal Audit department, and the Federal Sales Segment, where he dealt with all of the government's military services, intelligence agencies and civilian IT organizations.

Prior to working for Dell, Sorenson spent 15 years in the aerospace and defense industry, his last role as vice president of finance for AlliedSignal Corp.'s Aerospace Equipment Systems business. He also held several senior leadership positions within McDonnell Douglas Corp.'s Space and Defense Systems and Aerospace businesses.

Sorenson began his career at Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), where his final responsibility was controller, manufacturing. He started at the shipyard in production planning and control, and then became a construction supervisor on the 688 Fast Attack Submarine, USS Oklahoma City, where he was responsible for the construction and testing of the first vertical launch cruise missile system on a 688 at NNS.

"Skip brings a unique blend of manufacturing experience from aerospace and defense, e-commerce best practices from the technology arena, and significant financial expertise to Vought," said Risley. "His experience on a number of high-profile military programs, such as the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the AV-8B Harrier, coupled with his commercial background at Dell, make Skip an outstanding addition to the Vought leadership team."
