NBAA Welcomes Introduction Of FAA Reauthorization Bill In The Senate

House Bill Passed In May

The NBAA welcomed reauthorization legislation introduced in the United States Senate today for funding the FAA and building upon the work already done to develop a Next Generation Air Traffic Control System, or NextGen.

"We commend the Commerce Committee leadership on their efforts to accelerate aviation system modernization," said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.

"We look forward to working with the committee to complete FAA reauthorization and note that the priorities outlined by the general aviation  community for reauthorization are reflected in the proposal introduced today.

"General aviation has long promoted technologies and policies that help the nation's aviation system operate as safely and efficiently as possible," Bolen continued. "NBAA remains committed to working with leaders on both sides of Capitol Hill to continue the steps already taken to ensure that our aviation system remains the largest, best and safest in the world."

The legislation introduced today must now be considered by the Senate Commerce Committee. House lawmakers passed their version of FAA reauthorization legislation (H.R. 915) on May 21.
