American Flyers Skyhawk Fleet Grows To 60

American Flyers, one of the oldest and largest flight school in the United States, will be adding five 172R Skyhawks to their fleet. Currently, American Flyers operates a fleet of 60 Skyhawks of which 25 are 172R models and 35 are 172P models. All of the new 172Rs will be delivered by the end of July 2003.

According to Chris Hyzy, Controller for American Flyers, "We've been flying 172s for several decades. We keep buying them because they're robust, easy to work on, and are great trainers. They are a very forgiving aircraft which is important for students." American Flyers was established in 1939. They train approximately 5,000 students a year at one of their 15 domestic locations. Its newest facility was opened on July 1, 2003, at Peachtree DeKalb Airport near Atlanta, Georgia.
