Allows Wireless Data Transfer To Pro Line 4 And Pro Line 21 Avionics
The first installation of a Rockwell Collins Ascend IMS-3500 Information Management Server on the Citation XLS+ platform under Rockwell Collins’ Approved Model List (AML) Supplemental Type Certification (STC) has been completed by Duncan Aviation. The company's avionics team members installed the Aircraft Information Manager system, which allows for secure, remote and wireless data transfer capabilities to Pro Line 4 and Pro Line 21 equipped aircraft, in a Citation XLS+ at Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek, Michigan, location.
“Having Ascend service and equipment increases a flight department’s flexibility in terms of flight operations planning and maintenance,” says Duncan Aviation Avionics Tech Rep Adrian Chene. Along with access to powerful operations management tools, the system utilizes cellular and Wi-Fi links to automatically stage navigation and chart data in the aircraft as it becomes available from the vendor with no crew intervention.
“This system also allows for remote data loading without the presence of crew or maintenance teams at the same physical location as the aircraft as long as power can be applied,” says Chene. “There are other benefits to maintenance teams as they can remotely monitor the health of the avionics by requesting maintenance downloads.
“It is a minor installation that can be done in under a week with some planning as a standalone, but pairs well with a variety of other avionics upgrades and installations, saving customers time and money,” Chene explains.
Rockwell Collins currently has pricing incentives to receive the service.
