Confirmed: NASA Administrator Michael Griffin

Vote Was Unanimous

Dr. Michael Griffin, chosen by President Bush to lead America's space agency, was confirmed Thursday by a unanimous vote of the Senate.

"NASA needs his leadership in place for the countdown to May 15, when America returns to flight," said a statement to ANN by Sen. Kay Baily Hutchison (R-TX).

Griffin takes over for Sean O'Keefe, the NASA administrator who stepped down in February to become chancellor of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

"With proper guidance from the top, NASA has a bold and bright future," said Hutchison, who chairs the Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Science and Space.
