When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go

Just When We Thought It Couldn't Get Worse

A man on an American Eagle flight to Miami on Wednesday caused a disruption -- and an evacuation.

The aircraft was en route to Miami from Nashville, with a follow-on flight to Charlotte, NC. Early reports indicated the man ran up and down the aisle making wild hand gestures during preparations for departure from Miami.

However, Miami-Dade police spokesman Roy Rutland told the Associated Press, "Those were rumors." The truth is, the man had locked himself in the aircraft's bathroom while the Embraer regional jet was en route to Miami... and wouldn't get out.

And that's when the evacuation occurred. 44 passengers and the crew were rushed off the plane after it landed, so police with dogs could check the aircraft for explosives. And oh yeah... extricate the man from the lavatory.

Police questioned, and then released the man after he eventually exited the bathroom. They didn't comment on why the man locked himself in the lav... or whether he washed his hands.

American Eagle cancelled the follow-on flight to Charlotte -- and directed any further inquiries to the Miami-Dade police department.

Maybe there was some unfinished paperwork...
