World Premiere: Chelton's FlightLogic EFIS at Hillsboro Aviation

Hillsboro Aviation will host two days of demonstration flights of the FlightLogic Synthetic Vision EFIS from Chelton Flight Systems during the "World Premiere Tour." Attendees can see this system's remarkable 3-D Synthetic Vision and Highway-In-The-Sky capabilities demonstrated at the Hillsboro Airport (HIO) on 28 February and 01 March 2003. Hillsboro Aviation is the exclusive FlightLogic dealer for Oregon and southwest Washington.

The FlightLogic system compiles data from the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) network, aircraft sensors and onboard topographical databases to generate incredibly accurate, 3-dimensional "views" of the aircraft and its surroundings. These views are displayed in real-time on hardened, ultra-bright LCD screens with advanced HUD symbology overlaid. The result is the ultimate in situational awareness, flight management and pilot confidence. FlightLogic is now TSO'd by the FAA and approved for commercial installation in over 650 aircraft operating under FAR part 23.

The FlightLogic system consists of one to four screens, solid state gyroscopics, air data computer with fuel totalizer, GPS WAAS receiver, full FMS, integral voice warning system, TAWS, graphical flight planner and more. The HUD symbology on the Primary Flight Display depicts ASI, ALT, VSI, AGL, CDI, trends, heading, timers, and bugs information, and also offers conformal traffic display (Ryan TCAD) and enhanced low-speed awareness cues. The "Highway-in-the-Sky" technology makes it possible to create flightplans with the push of a few buttons.  This generates a series of boxes on the PFD representing a tunnel through which the pilot can smoothly navigate his aircraft from the en-route segments of the flightplan to a precision, non-precision, or visual approach.

The Multi-Functional Display (MFD) shows a vector-based moving map with Jeppesen NavData, conventional HSI/RMI, obstructions, airspace incursion symbology, horizontal projected path, waypoint information, plus information relating to winds-aloft/crosswind component, density altitude, air/groundspeed, OAT, (wind/terrain/turn compensated) dead-stick glide area, fuel range and duration, and an on-screen full-function FMS.

Offering more capability than a Boeing 777, FlightLogic is now available for General Aviation aircraft - from a high-end single engine aircraft to a light jet - at General Aviation cost.  Interested pilots can now check out the truly incredible features of FlightLogic on a simulator available at Hillsboro Aviation.

Hillsboro Aviation, Inc. was established in 1980 and since then has grown to be one of the largest combined airplane and helicopter operations in the Northwestern United States.  Hillsboro Aviation's operations include Avionics Sales, Installation, and Maintenance;  Fixed Wing and Helicopter Flight School (APC);  Contract Helicopter and Executive Charter Services;  Helicopter Sales (Bell Helicopter, Robinson Helicopter, and Schweitzer Aircraft);  Fixed-Wing Sales (Authorized Oregon, Washington and Idaho Cessna CSTAR);  Part Sales and Pilot Supplies;  Line Service and Fuel.

The fleet of over 40 aircraft at Hillsboro Aviation includes single and multi-engine fixed-wing aircraft and piston and turbine helicopters. Hillsboro Aviation employs over 100 personnel in its flight school, avionics, outside maintenance, line service, parts, and aircraft sales divisions.  Hillsboro Aviation has averaged a 17% growth rate over the past ten years of operation.

Hillsboro Aviation's Avionics Division is driven by five experienced avionics technicians and a technical services manager implementing installations of major equipment and upgrades (including TAWS and RVSM) and smaller navigation and/or communication units. They are highly skilled at accomplishing both small and large repair jobs as well as highly sophisticated avionics upgrades.

Hillsboro Aviation is conveniently located at the Hillsboro Airport (KHIO) - the 17th busiest airport in the U.S.A. The current facilities of Hillsboro Aviation are 36,000 square feet on 5.7 acres of airport land.
