EASA Grants ETSO For EX600 MFD

Allows System To Be Installed In European Fixed And Rotary Wing Aircraft

The EASA has granted a European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) to Avadyne for its EX600 Multi-Function Display (MFD). This ETSO paves the way for installation of the EX600 MFD in European-registered fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

"Our EX-Series MFD customers have enjoyed the exclusive situational awareness and safety benefits of European-specific datalink graphical weather and electronic VFR charts," said Patrick Herguth, Avidyne's Chief Operating Officer. "Europe continues to be an important market for Avidyne and with this ETSO, we can offer even greater benefits for our European customers with our newest MFD, the EX600."

"The EX600 has quickly achieved a great deal of success with installations in most fixed wing aircraft models, as well as many major helicopters including Bell, Agusta and Eurocopter models," said Rob Higby, Avidyne's Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service. "This ETSO approval now allows helicopter and fixed-wing operators throughout Europe to have access to this proven and capable MFD."

Avidyne's EX600 is a full-function MFD that is designed to enhance situational awareness and safety for pilots of general aviation airplanes and helicopters. Incorporating a 5.8-inch diagonal, 640x480 pixel (VGA) display, the EX600 features Avidyne's renowned easy-to-use pilot interface. With its innovative new Map Panning keys and exclusive QuickPan function, the EX600 dramatically improves a pilot's ability to access and display critical flight data. QuickPan allows the pilot to quickly toggle between the present position and a panned-to position-such as Destination airport-with a single button push.

All EX600s include the ability to display CMax electronic approach charts & over 6,000 worldwide airport diagrams at no additional charge, as well as support for European VFR Charts (aka Bottlang Airfield Manual)-covering over 2200 airports in 29 European countries. CMax Charts provide an added measure of situational awareness during critical phases of flight and while taxiing, both domestically and internationally. Subscription services for CMax are available through Jeppesen.

With interfaces to 20 different radar models, the EX600 is unmatched as a radar-replacement MFD, meaning it can act as a display replacement for many out-dated and un-repairable cathode ray tube (CRT) radar displays, while adding significant situational awareness and utility enhancements.

In addition, the EX600 provides the widest range of sensor interfaces available in a retrofit MFD including TAS600-Series Traffic Advisory capability and TWX670 Color Tactical Lightning Detection. With Avidyne's unique MultiLink™ capability, the EX600 can display both broadcast datalink in the Continental U.S. (CONUS) through the MLB700 and worldwide datalink through the MLX770 datalink transceiver. Optional TCAS I and TAWS/EGPWS/HTAWS interfaces are also available.

EX600 pricing starts at $9,990 for the standard MFD, including CMax Electronic Approach Charts, Worldwide Airport Diagrams, and standard interfaces for traffic and color lightning. The EX600 MFD with Bendix RDR130/150/160/RDS81/82/82VP/84/84VP/86/86VP interface or Bendix/King RDR2000/2100 interface is $13,990, and the EX600 MFD with Collins WXR250/270/300 or Bendix RDR1100/1200/1300/1400 interface is $16,990. The system is available now.

Existing EX500 owners can get upgraded to an EX600 starting at $6,495.
