Company Now Taking Orders For Certified Single-Place
Propjet
By ANN Correspondent Juan Jimenez
FAA type certificate number 3A18 is misleading. At
first sight, it looks like the Meyers 200A that set a world speed
record of 227.24 MPH in the Class C.1.b Group 1 classification. The
same could be said about the Aero Commander 200D that Don Washburn
piloted to a Class C.1.c world speed record of 208.26 KTS.
Close, but not quite. 3A18 belongs to the Meyers Aircraft
Interceptor 400, a pressurized and air-conditioned bird powered by
no less than a Garrett TPE-331 turboprop engine rated at 840
thermodynamic SHP.
Meyers Aircraft acquired the type certificate, jigs, tooling and
documentation associated with the Meyers 200. With virtually no
modifications other than the replacement of the reciprocating
engine with the Garrett, the addition of pressurization and the
required systems and instrumentation changes, the Meyers 400 was
born.
The specifications for the four-seat single are
impressive - 300 kts max cruise at FL260, useful load of 1305 LBS,
S/L ROC of 1800 FPM, 1410 FT takeoff run to clear 50 FT obstacle,
1200 FT landing roll over 50 FT obstacle, and a zero-wind range of
900 NM with 45 minute reserves.
The company has also developed the Interceptor I400M T/U/FAC/COIN
certified military version of the aircraft with an increased gross
weight rating and provisions for external hardpoints for
armaments.
Delivery positions orders are now available for the Interceptor
400 at a base price of $995,000.
