Continues Efforts To Enhance Customer Service, Promote Aviation Safety
By Anthony Liberatore
Wicks Aircraft Supply President Scott Wicks (pictured) gave a presentation on what the long time supplier to aircraft homebuilders is doing with their business Tuesday at AirVenture at Oshkosh. Scott noted that with customers shopping more on line, Wicks has complete revamped their website. This new website includes a number of features to enhance the customers experience. These include; a picture zoom function, a compare feature to allow you compare parts you may want to purchase, and a non-time out feature for buyers that may need some time to compile a large number of parts for their project.
Other enhancements include a streamlined ordering system for business customers and soon a web feature to see if Wicks has the part in stock. Wick noted that it may be considered bad business to send a customer away if they do not have the part, it is better to help them find it elsewhere if a builder is at a critical juncture and it is needed in the building process. To keep clients informed, an e-newsletter with a sign in feature has been added to keep customers abreast of new products, materials, and sales specials.
Wicks also has a program for those that pre-order who are planning to attend AirVenture. The customer can pick up the part at their booth and save the shipping cost. With the availability of aircraft grade Spruce getting harder to find, Wicks noted the site is now carrying Western Hemlock and Fir in their inventory, and while they are heavier than Spruce, they are also stronger.
A host of safety related products Wicks is now carrying are the new ACR-406 ELT, Dyon's Portable EFIS, Aero-Led's newest lighting package, and Delorme's Personal Locator Beacon. Other products include A & R Noice Canceling Headsets, hardware and raw material kits for the Sonex Aircraft's “Onex” and Stewart System's water borne people safe aircraft fabric covering process. Wick's also noted that they are members of Aircraft Kit Industry Association (AKIA) who was recently formed to help preserve the 51 percent building rule and to preserve safety.
