Klyde Has A Sister!

You Can Teach An Ant To Fly.... But Can You Make Him Babysit?

ANN loves good news and some of the best we've received in a LONG while just reached us. Wes and Teresa Oleszewski, the brains(?) and wit behind the immensely popular Klyde Morris cartoon strip have just become parents, for the FIRST time, to a BEAUTIFUL/HEALTHY baby girl.

As the recent Klyde-Gram announced, "It's a girl!!!! Wes and Teresa Oleszewski are busting with happiness to announce the arrival of Anjelysa Akie Oleszewski at 12:38 pm, Oct. 20, 2003- 6 pounds, 6 oz. 18.5 in long. Baby is in perfect health and doing very well. Mom is recovering but will not be home until Friday- dad is walking around in a daze and bursting with pride... mainly because the baby looks just like her mother... thank goodness."

The lovely name comes courtesy of their families, Ms. Oleszewski's name takes the letters AN from Wes' mom Susanne (and we were hoping it was really from ANN - ah well...), JE from Wes' sister Jeanine, LY from Wes' niece Tracy Lynn, and SA from Wes' sister-in-law, Melissa- to honor all of them. It is pronounced "Angi-lisa." Her middle name, Akie, honor's Teresa's late mother.

Like all things associated with the Klyde Krowd, Anjelysa's arrival was not without it's more entertaining (if not, energetic) moments. Wes tells us that the baby began to arrive late Sunday evening, so he rushed Teresa toward the hospital only to be STOPPED on the ONLY road from their home to the mainland by an accident involving an over-turned car -- blocking BOTH lanes.

So Wes ran... YES, Ran... all way up a quarter mile of stopped traffic to the accident scene and found a police officer. Telling said gendarme of their plight, he had wes RUN back -- Yes RUN -- to take the van out of the traffic jam, cutting to the front of the stopped traffic where they WAITED some more. Since the Fire Department couldn't clear the road, the Chief had one of the on-scene ambulances whisk Teresa on to the hospital (a 30 min. drive from their house) while Wes sat in traffic and WAITED (some more).

Some 40 minutes later they cleared enough room to get him through, so Wes headed to the hospital at a speed no where near Mach One... or so he claims. Wes got there to find Teresa stable and doing fine... until she delivered Anjelysa the NEXT day... leaving Wes to enjoy the fond memory of the previous evening's quarter mile sprints. But not for long... because Wes is now playing Daddy, breaking out some Klyde dolls for future family use (seen right), and bouncing off the walls... or as he puts it... "Happiness abounds here."

We'll bet it does. To Wes, Teresa, and Anjelysa, we send our love and congratulations to the recently upgraded Oleszewski family and note that it's only 16 years or so until Anjelysa can solo...
