Navy Identifies Four Killed In T-39 Accident

Three Were From Florida, One From Pennsylvania

The names of the four Sailors killed in the crash of a T-39N Sabreliner near Blue Ridge, GA, April 12, have been released.

They are:

Lt. Cmdr. Charles McDaniel (Ret.), 67, of Cantonment, FL.
Capt. Jason Paynter, USMC, 38, of Pensacola, FL.
1st Lt. Shawn Nice, USMC, 26, of Levittown, PA.
Ensign Zachary Eckhart, 25, of Pensacola, FL.

All four were assigned to Training Squadron (VT) 86, based out of Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL. They were conducting a routine training mission at the time of the crash. Navy's Air Training Command spokesman Lt. Brett Dawson said fuel spilled in the crash started a 25-acre brush fire which slowed down recovery.

The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
