Brings Strong Background In Channel and Product Sales
Avidyne Corporation announced Tuesday that Robbin L. "Rob"
Higby has joined the avionics manufacturer as vice president of
sales and marketing. In his new role, Higby will oversee growth of
the company’s global sales and marketing organizations, and
will be responsible for expanding Avidyne’s relationships
with core OEM partners, as well as its global network of
distributors and dealers who deliver the company’s avionics
solutions to pilots worldwide.
An experienced technology sales and marketing professional,
Higby brings more than a decade of leadership experience to
Avidyne. Most recently, he ran EqualLogic, Inc.’s Channel
Sales organization, where his role was pivotal in defining and
rolling out the firm’s highly regarded Channel Sales model
for technology resellers across the globe.
EqualLogic was purchased by Dell on January 29 of this year for
$1.4 billion, the largest cash transaction of any venture-backed
technology company. Prior to his position in Channel Sales, he
served as Director of Product Marketing at EqualLogic.
"Rob combines an exceptional grasp of high-end technology with a
demonstrated record of success in product and solution marketing.
His experience in leading EqualLogic’s well known Channel
Sales organization, coupled with his strong product marketing
background, will be invaluable in defining, positioning, and
marketing Avidyne’s diverse avionics products in a highly
competitive environment. We’re pleased to welcome him to
Avidyne and the business aviation community," said Dan Schwinn,
Chief Executive Officer of Avidyne.
Prior to EqualLogic, Higby held various leadership roles at EMC
Corporation in Hopkinton, MA, including General Manager of the
Express Solutions Program, EMC’s portfolio of channel focused
small and medium business offerings. Before joining EMC, Higby was
a venture capitalist and investment banker, most notably at Whitney
& Co., where he co-founded the firm’s technology
investment practice. He is a graduate of Duke University in Durham,
NC and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of
Management.
