Garmin Touts King Air G1000 Upgrade -- With SVT! -- At NBAA 2008

Company Also Announces New Extended Warranty Coverage

Garmin announced Monday at NBAA 2008 its new "King Air Platinum Package," for King Air C90, 200 and B200 owners who place an order for the retrofit G1000 integrated flight deck by November 30, 2008.

The Platinum Package offers a substantial savings on the most popular G1000 options: Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT), Garmin Chartview that displays Jeppesen charts, and GRC/GRT XM radio remote control.

"The King Air C90 and 200 are the first aircraft to be eligible for a G1000 retrofit, and customers have jumped at the chance to have Garmin-glass in the flight deck of the aircraft they already know and love flying," said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s vice president of marketing. "Throughout the King Air 200 STC program, we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that when completed it will include common King Air configurations such as Black Hawk engines and the STC for full RVSM certification. Pilots who look at the features of the G1000 retrofit realize it’s a tremendous bang-for-the buck, not to mention a huge leap forward in terms of safety of flight and situational awareness."

The King Air G1000 retrofit flight deck is the industry’s first G1000 retrofit avionics package. It integrates all primary flight, navigation, communication, terrain, traffic, weather and engine instrumentation system (EIS) on a large 15-inch multi-function display (MFD) and two 10.4-inch primary flight displays (PFD). The G1000 retrofit system includes Garmin’s GFC 700 three axis, fully digital, dual channel, fail passive automatic flight control system (AFCS). The GFC 700 has features not typically found in this class of aircraft like coupled wide area augmentation system (WAAS) approaches, coupled vertical navigation and flight level change (FLC).

The King Air Platinum Package’s most popular feature, SVT, presents a 3D depiction of terrain, obstacles and traffic on the G1000’s PFD so that the avionics panel replicates what pilots would see outside the cockpit on a clear day.

Garmin was awarded supplemental type certification (STC) for the G1000 flight deck in the King Air C90A/GT in November 2007, and expects to receive the STC for the King Air 200 and B200 in early 2009.

The company also announced its new FliteLevel Extended Warranty, which offers complete system wide maintenance protection for everything from cockpit displays to remote LRUs. It is designed to give owners comprehensive protection against unexpected product failures when their standard two-year factory warranty expires.

"FliteLevel gives owners peace of mind and helps them avoid unscheduled downtime, service costs and headaches," said Matt Harrah, Garmin’s director of aviation product support.

With various fixed price coverage plans to chose from, owners can evaluate their needs and budget and enroll in the plan that best meets their requirements. Plan options include those where Garmin covers local shop labor and replacement charges, or LRU exchanges and flat-rate factory repair fees only. FliteLevel also includes Garmin’s LRU exchange program, which ensures a quick replacement of faulty "black box" remote units, should one ever occur.

FliteLevel is available through OEMs and Garmin authorized service centers, depending on the airframe manufacturer. It is supported by Garmin’s global network of Authorized Sales and Service outlets that are based at hundreds of worldwide locations. Service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and includes AOG emergency service.

Garmin’s FliteLevel service is fully transferable if during the warranty period the aircraft is sold to a new owner.
