Coroner Says Reno Airplane Mechanic Was Murdered

Man Went Missing Under Mysterious Circumstances

Airplane mechanic Robin Bodden died from gunshot wounds to the head according to a Washoe County Coroner's report released yesterday.

In a previous story on ANN, Bodden, 50, was reported missing in late August after his family learned he had not been heard from for more than ten days.

Bodden's widow, Karen, told authorities she had not reported him missing because the marriage had been strained and Bodden had left before. She said she had last seen him boarding a light-twin aircraft with a man named "Ramos" at the controls.

In September Robin Bodden's body was found in a rural area near the town he and Karen Bodden lived. Further investigation by the Douglas County Sheriff's office resulted in Karen Bodden's arrest for embezzlement -- she had stolen thousands from her late husband's business.

Robin Bodden's siblings say despite his profession, his fear of flying in small aircraft was common knowledge among his family and friends. They also say he would never have left without contacting one of them.

The coroner's report released Wednesday had been held up awaiting results of toxicology testing. Robin Bodden was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he was murdered. The coroner said he had been shot four times in the head.

Karen Bodden remains in jail on $115,000 bail. She has a court date set for February 21. She is also on a hold for a previous 2004 conviction for embezzling $44,000 from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles.

Robin Bodden's death remains under investigation.
