Updated: Aviation's Most Innovative Tradeshow, AEA2012, To Be Webcast Live!

The 'Best and Brightest' Of The Avionics World Show "What's New" In Washington, DC, April 3-6, 2012

ANN RealTime Update, 03.27.12, 1512 ET: Please note that we have made changes to the Wednesday and Thursday afternoon schedules in order to accommodate the availability of our guests... we'll keep you updated if any other changes occur!

The avionics industry has been described as the most innovative in all of aviation... and if you look at the development of GPS, the Glass Panel, Airborne Comm and Data, Synthetic Vision, and new generations of power systems; you'd be hard-pressed to disagree.

The annual Aircraft Electronics Association Convention & Trade Show is "where all the cool stuff happens." This year's gathering is just a week away, and the AEA and media partner Aero-News Network are not only making ready to produce a great deal of coverage, but are doing so LIVE (and in High-Def!!!!!) for the most important features of the event.

The 55th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show is the largest gathering of avionics manufacturers, distributors and government-certified repair stations in the world. It is a unique opportunity for manufacturers, distributors, technicians and business leaders to network and shape the future of avionics together. The AEA Convention is the only wholesale avionics show representing nearly 90 percent of the international government-certified avionics shops. Not open to the public, AEA and ANN have partnered together to make sure that the rest of the aviation community stays abreast of the most important, news, announcements and information imparted at this year's event.

"We look forward to ANN's live-streaming coverage of the 2012 AEA New Product Introductions, which features the unveiling of several new products and services critical to our industry," said Paula Derks, AEA president. "We received excellent feedback from our members on last year's coverage in Reno, particularly the live interviews with industry leaders and executives on the AEA Exhibit Hall floor, along with the YouTube postings of each company presentation during the New Product Introductions. The Aero-News Network is an outlet that provides attendees with an opportunity to broadcast their message to the entire aviation community, and we look forward to more of its outstanding coverage in Washington, D.C."

As it has previously, ANN's 'Aero-TV' crews will be producing live programming for the three primary days of the convention. Starting April 4th, Aero-TV will cover AEA's industry-leading "New Product Introduction" showcase, in which EVERYTHING and ANYTHING of interest to the avionics world, at large, gets its first comprehensive public viewing. The two hour live programming session will detail dozens of new product and technology introductions, showcasing the very latest in innovative aviation electronics.

At least two other exciting programs will be offered during the event, one of each on the 4th and 5th of April. These programs will feature daily news updates right from the busy AEA Trade Show floor, as well as pivotal interviews with this year's news-makers. The live programming will be available through links at www.aero-news.net, www.aero-news.net/live, www.aero-tv.net and www.aea.net... Dedicated news portals, featuring this programming, are available to aviation oriented web sites via an easy HTML 'cut and paste" utility that can be placed on virtually any site. Requests for this code should be made to publisher@aero-news.net.

ANN is pleased to note that we are also partnering with the Aircraft Owner's and Pilot's Association (AOPA), as well as the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) to bring you this coverage and that both organizations will be carrying links and/or portals to the week's programming via their well-known sites.

On April 4th, ANN's LIVE Coverage of AEA2012 commences at 0815 with the Opening Ceremonies of the event and the keynote address of Retired Air Force Col. Mark W. Tillman, chosen as the nation’s 12th Presidential pilot. Tillman retired from the U.S. Air Force in February 2009, following a distinguished 30-year career that culminated with his command of the US Presidential Airlift Group from 2001 to 2009.

At 0930, April 4th... one of the most informative sessions in all of aviation will commence... the 2012 AEA New Product Introductions. Log in and view all the new products being unveiled during this fast-paced, high-tech event. These are the products and services repair stations will be suggesting and selling to customers throughout 2012 and beyond. Live coverage will take a break at 1200 and resume later in the afternoon.

Starting at 1500 ET, Wednesday, ANN will offer several hours of exciting interviews and info sessions from the floor of the AEA2012 Trade Show. Wednesday afternoon's programming will be webcast with an emphasis on 'Innovation.' This Innovation-oriented program is being offered with the kind assistance of TrueNorth Avionics and will look at the products and technologies of particular interest for the coming year. On tap for this sessions, we will offer interviews and panels looking at Synthetic Vision, Airborne Data and Communications, Audio Panels, and the latest in Navigation and Communications Technologies.

On Thursday, April 5th, ANN's live coverage resumes at 1600 ET. Already confirmed for Thursday afternoon are AEA President Paula Derks, AEA Vice President of Government & Industry Affairs Ric Peri, and Mike Adamson, AEA's VP of Member Programs & Education as well as the Executive Director of the AEA Educational Foundation. Other topics on schedule for Wednesday's programming include interviews with leading avionics shops about the state of the industry and the need for qualified techs, as well as follow-up interviews with those associated with some of the hottest new products announced at the NPI session -- something of a "Greatest Hits Of The 2012 AEA NPI". Don't miss it!

As you may surmise... AEA2012 is THE event for all things aero-electronic. As a matter of fact, AOPA President Craig Fuller notes that, "Today's avionics for general aviation are the envy of the world. The more we debate what in Washington, D.C. we call the 'next generation' of technology, the more we remind policy makers that our community has rapidly recognized the advantages of new technologies and increasingly upgraded aircraft and acquired aircraft with the most modern and sophisticated avionics. And, every bit as important as the technology is the training we have embraced to fully realize the potential provided by these systems. AEA's members will gather just outside the nation's Capital at a time of extraordinarily rapid innovation and undoubtedly the meeting will allow all of us to better understand a bit more of just what the future of avionics will look like."

Above and beyond all that, the ANN crew will also be filing stories, daily, on the www.aero-news.net website, producing Daily Aero-Casts (podcasts), as well as shooting dozens of other interviews and features with the intention to webcast those at a future date. With nearly 200 AEA-specific programs in its inventory thus far, ANN has made a commitment to ensuring that the avionics industry gets its fair share of attention from the rest of the aviation world. ANN CEO Jim Campbell explains that, "ANN has made the transformation of the aviation business model one of the most important items on our agenda, and it is innovative industries like those represented by AEA that not only show us that aviation can have a bright and innovative future, but it becomes apparent that the rest of the aviation community can learn much from the ingenuity and foresight we see at each annual AEA event. If you want to see the future of aviation, you need to start with the annual AEA Convention and Trade Show -- and don't forget... if you can't be here, we'll bring it to you."

ANN's extensive coverage of the AEA2012 event is made possible by sponsorship provided by some of the finest companies in the avionics industry... Aspen Avionics, Avidyne, Becker USA, FreeFlight Systems, Guardian Avionics, Mid-Continent Instruments, TrueNorth Avionics, Ultra Electronics - Flightline Systems, and Universal Avionics.
