'Flight For The Human Spirit' To Begin At America Jet In Salina, KS

Pilot Plans To Visit 135 Cities Carrying Message Of Hope

It's two weeks before the takeoff of The Flight for the Human Spirit and it seems that the only variable is the weather.  Michael Combs is slated to take off in his Remos GX light-sport aircraft from the Salina Municipal Airport, April 5 to begin his journey across the nation. 

Combs, and the aircraft named "Hope One," will then touch down in 135 cities and towns across the U.S. and will travel more than 19,400 miles in the upcoming weeks.
 
"I've been planning this trip for a year and a half," said Combs.  "Although I don't know if you can ever be completely ready for a trip of this magnitude, I'm going to take to the skies and see how many lives we can touch through this flight."
 
Combs recovered from a serious illness several years ago, and promised himself he would live his life with no regrets, and it seems as though he is true to his word.  After receiving his pilot's license last October, he has logged more than 100 flight hours. 
 
Combs says his mission is to tell 20 million people that "it is never EVER too late to follow your dreams."
 
The April 5th  festivities begin at 0730 at America Jet, located at the Salina Aviation Service Center.  In that first day, Combs will make five stops along the way to Columbia, MO.  The trip is estimated to take two to three months.
