WACO Classic Receives Great Lakes Production Parts Approval

Company Expects Production Of The Classic Bipe To Begin In Ernest

WACO Classic Aircraft announced on its blog this week that the FAA has granted the company production approval for parts for the Great Lakes. Peter Bowers, who posted the update, said the move will allow the company to "ramp up" production of the classic bipe.

WACO announced back in October that it had received the Type Certificate for the Great Lakes 2T-1A series of aircraft.  WCA said at the time that most of the planned engineering updates had been completed and were pending approval. Those included updates to the frame structure and ergonomic updates, provisions for new yet to be announced Garmin avionics and radios, and investigation and engineering related to the new Lycoming  AEIO-390, 210 HP engine.

WCA said that the first customer airplane would be started in this month, with subsequent starts every 4 weeks.
