Dassault Launches EASy Synthetic Vision At NBAA 2008

Part Of 'EASy Phase II' Series Of Options

In a Sunday morning conference at NBAA 2008, Dassault Falcon launched its new 'EASy Phase II' series of enhancements to the already capable EASy flight deck.

By far the most significant addition to EASy is the availability of synthetic vision technology, now under development in conjunction with Honeywell Aerospace. The system will be offered as an option in new EASy-equipped models, as well as a retrofit for like-equipped planes already in the field.

"When EASy was introduced, it was a revolutionary advancement in cockpit technology and a giant step forward for business aviation," said John Rosanvallon, President and CEO of Dassault Falcon. "And today EASy continues its development with the adition of synthetic vision that will move today's most advanced flight deck further ahead into the future."

Dassault's interpretation of synthetic vision places a high-resolution three-dimensional digital image on both pilots' primary display units. The data is derived from the onboard Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System, which enables map displays and alerts pilots if the aircraft's intended flight path is projected to come near terrain.

Other features of EASy Phase II will include ADS-B Out capabilities, improved XM Graphical Weather, Paperless Charts, Localizer Approach Performance with Vertical Guidance approaches (LPV), and support for Future Air Navigation System (FANS 1A) using Controller Pilot Data Link Communications, which allows pilots and ATC to communicate via a datalink system on transoceanic flights.

Dassault's proprietary EASy flight deck is built largely on the Honeywell Primus Epic avionics platform. To date, over 225 EASy-equipped aircraft are in service.

The planemaker plans to offer EASy Phase II by the last quarter of 2009 on new-delivered Falcon 900EX EASy and Falcon 900DX aircraft. It is projected to be available on Falcon 7X, Falcon 200LX and Falcon 2000DX models in mid-2010.

Three EASy-equipped models -- a Falcon 900LX, Falcon 2000EX and Falcon 7X -- are on static display at Orlando Executive Airport during NBAA.
