SoCal A Great Place For SportCruising

A Sleek Czech Design With A Remarkably Low Stall Speed

A relatively new entry in the Light Sport arena, the Czech Aircraft Works SportCruiser was on display at AOPA Expo 2006.

The all metal S-LSA has a top speed of 119 knots and a dirty stall speed of 26 knots. Operating on premium unleaded auto fuel, the SportCruiser burns a thrifty 4.5 gallons per hour using a Rotax 912 ULS engine.

Although assembled in the Czech Republic, the SportCruiser features American made parts and was specifically designed for the American LSA market. It can be equipped for night flying, as well as serve as an instrument trainer.

With its reportedly docile handling and published low stall speed -- due primarily to its large wing area says the manufacturer -- the SportCruiser should appeal to pilots of all experience levels, including the training market.

LSA Flyers, the distributor of the aircraft on display at EXPO, says what differentiates the SportCruiser from the rest of the LSA market is its sleek appearance, all metal construction, customer service and price. Operations Manager Kris Sullivan told ANN, "Don’t believe just the pictures or the numbers. We want people to buy the plane based on their experience flying it."

LSA Flyers expects to deliver six aircraft within the next six weeks and hopes for 10 - 15 per month starting in January. They currently have 12 aircraft sold.

Pricing ranges from $75,000 - $97,000, depending on options and accessories.
