NEW Twice-Weekly Airborne 07.20.12: OSH2012!, Sonex Upgrades, United/Continental

Also: Ballooning Nationals, Congress Targets Aviation, Solar Impulse, Islands Open Up Airspace... and More!!

Oshkosh is just hours away and ANN is thick in the middle of the most extensive coverage prep in the business. Look! Up in the Sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!

No, it’s the JSX-1 -- the JSX-1 will be flying a 5-minute demonstration in three of AirVenture’s pre-airshow showcases, appearing Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Famed airshow pilot Bob Carlton will pilot. And for those who prefer to travel at a slightly slower pace, Sonex has announced the addition of pre-fabricated parts for its popular Sonex and Waiex kit models, making the kit aircraft faster and easier to assemble than ever before. On Wednesday, two Congressional Subcommittees were talking aviation. The Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation held a hearing on the General Accounting Office’s report entitled, “General Aviation Security: Weaknesses Exist in TSA’s Process for Ensuring Foreign Flight Students Do Not Pose a Security Threat.” America’s top 50 competitive hot air balloonists and their crews are converging on Longview, Texas for the Balloon Federation of America’s U.S. National Championship. All this... and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!

Don’t forget that we’ll be bringing you live coverage of Oshkosh again this year, with Daily Airborne Programs, Monday through Friday, July 23rd through 27th at 8PM Central Time. We hope you’ll join us.
