New Glastar Comes Up Swinging

Announces One Of The Industry's Most Aggressive Building/Sales Programs

There was a time when the folks who built the highly regarded Glasair and Glastar lines inhabited a pretty lofty place on the aeronautical food chain... and then times got tough. A few setbacks put them in a less visible position for quite the while as they rebuilt their company and updated their product line.

Now; with a reinvigorated update of the highly regarded Glastar (an airplane that ANN's Jim Campbell judged to be one of the industry's ten best, several years ago), called the Sportsman 2+2, the folks of New Glasair/New Glastar are announcing that they are VERY serious about regaining a solid leadership role in the sport aviation industry... and their latest move is a shocker.

A two prong approach is designed to make their Sportsman program one of the fastest building airplanes in the business... and offer long-term financing, to boot. A number of programs, of a week to two week durations are designed to allow a builder to come to New Glasair/New Glastar's Customer Assembly Center (CAC) and do as much work as they once would have assumed to have taken months... if not years.

New Glasair/New Glastar's CAC Programs

With the combination of NG/NG's Pre-Built and Customer Assembly Center (or "CAC") options, they plan to offer completion times on the Sportsman aircraft that "no other aircraft company in the industry can even come close to matching." Here's what they have in mind...

Airframe Assembly Option (2 Weeks): Choosing this option, in a mere 2 weeks, the builder will essentially complete their airframe, accomplishing all of the following:

  1. Installation of fuel tanks and fuel lines.
  2. Wiring for fuel transfer pumps in wings.
  3. Installation of Nav/Strobe conduit and wiring in wings.
  4. Installation of pitot system in wings.
  5. Wings complete and closed.
  6. Main Landing Gear aligned and installed (tail dragger or trike)
  7. Wheels and tires mounted to main gear
  8. Tail Wheel Installed (if tail dragger)
  9. Nose Gear Assembled (if trike)
  10. Horizontal Stabilizer aligned and installed
  11. Elevator rigged and installed (including trim tab)
  12. Rudder rigged and installed
  13. Control yoke, control sticks, and flap handle assembly installed
  14. Seat assemblies installed (minus cushions/upholstery)
  15. Rudder pedal assemblies and cables installed
  16. Brake pedals, brake lines and master cylinders installed
  17. Brake lines installed from pedals to wheels
  18. Aileron, Flap and Rudder pulley system and control cables rigged and installed.
  19. Stainless Firewall installed (with all wire and cable pass throughs located and drilled)
  20. Wings and wing struts aligned, rigged, drilled and installed on fuselage.
  • NOTE: Yes, there are some airframe related items left for the builder to complete, including items such as fairings for rudder, elevator and wing tips; installation of windows; stick grips; cabin air system; etc.

Firewall Forward Option (1 Week):  Choosing this option, in 1 week, the builder will complete the requisites of their firewall forward, including the following:

  1. Engine mount installed,
  2. Engine installed
  3. Exhaust installed
  4. Baffling installed
  5. Induction system installed
  6. Oil cooler system installed
  7. Firewall forward fuel system installed
  8. Nose Wheel Assembly installed(if trike)
  9. Cowling installed
  10. Propeller and governor installed
  11. Spinner and backplates installed
  • NOTE:  Again, there are some firewall forward items left for the builder to complete, including items such as CHT/EGT probes; fuel system transducer; throttle, mixture and prop controls; etc.
Exclusive Sportsman Financing Programs

The second tier of the New Glasair/New Glastar program uses National Aircraft Finance Company (NAFCO) financing packages, exclusively, for purchasers of the Sportsman Aircraft who also purchase and attend the Customer Assembly Center (CAC) program.

Sample Loan Payments
  1. Option One: 2 Week Airframe Assembly - Initial out of pocket expense is approximately $6,500 with a monthly payment of approximately $673. This option is for the customer who wants to get their airframe completed in record time, but prefers to take their aircraft home to complete the firewall forward components (engine, prop, etc.), avionics, paint and interior at their own pace. With this option, customers finance their kit, and all options and CAC program costs necessary to attend the 2 week CAC program.
  2. Option Two: 3 Week Airframe and Firewall Forward Assembly - Initial out of pocket expense is approximately $11,000 with a monthly payment of approximately $664. This option is for the customer who wants to get their airframe and firewall forward completed in record time, yet they want to take their aircraft home, install their avionics, paint and interior and finish their aircraft the way they want it, but still in an unbelievably short period of time compared to any other aircraft on the market. With this option, customers finance their kit; all options and CAC program costs necessary to attend the 2 week CAC program; and their engine, propeller and all firewall forward options and accessories necessary to complete the 3rd week of the CAC.  All of these costs and expenses are combined into an affordable loan, making it possible to get into the air faster than ever before.
  3. Option Three:  All Costs to Professionally Complete a Sportsman in Weeks! - Initial out of pocket expense is approximately $16,000 with a monthly payment of approximately $1,014.  This option is for the customer who wants to fly and they want to fly NOW!  With this option, the customer finances all 3 weeks of the CAC; the engine; propeller; professionally built instrument panel; paint and interior costs; and all labor costs associated with having a professional completion center assist you in completing the aircraft.

  • Approved "Package" programs are fully financable with up to 90% financing of the package price.
  • Customer Assembly Center program cost included in the finance package.
  • All loans are fixed rate with no pre-payment penalties.
  • Amortization programs up to 20 years.
Loan Application Requirements

A Completed NAFCO Loan Application along with copies of 2 years Federal Income Tax returns along with a copy of a current pay stub.  If the Applicant is self-employed, copies of 2 years of business returns will also be necessary.

Loan Requirements Prior to Funding

NAFCO approved insurance must be in place on the aircraft prior to funding.  A closing cost of $350 will be due at the time of closing.  Automatic payment withdrawal is required on all loans. All payments are estimated based on current interest rates and terms and are subject to change without notice.
