Two weeks ago, EAA members and others sent more than 19,000 emails and letters went to U.S. Senate offices urging senators to sign a letter opposing FAA's effort to charge air traffic fees at aviation events, including AirVenture. Firm Order For 30 A350-900s And 20 Options Convertible To A350-1000
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has increased its orders for the A350 XWB with an additional 30 A350-900s, plus options for a further 20 aircraft. The agreement firms up a commitment announced last month. Under the terms of the agreement, Singapore Airlines will be able to select either the baseline A350-900 or the larger A350-1000 when exercising the options.

Say More Needs To Be Done To Assure Safety Of The Traveling Public
Members of the European Parliament (EP) have been warned that not enough has been done to keep Europe’s sky safe and to protect the traveling public from the risks associated with aircrew fatigue. At a Public Hearing held on 18 June, pilots, cabin crew representatives and scientists addressed the members of the EP Transport Committee and reiterated the need for solid, scientifically validated Flight Time Limitations (FTL) rules for pilots and cabin crew.

Company Says New Engines Are One Percent More Fuel Efficient Than Current Model
Rolls-Royce has delivered Trent 1000 engines to power the first test flight of the latest member of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family, the 787-9. The engines will provide 74,000lb thrust for the 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which will fly for the first time later this year. Trent 1000s will also power the aircraft’s entry into service with Air New Zealand in 2014.

Asian Airline To Purchase Another Four E-170 Jets
Embraer S.A. disclosed a firm order from Japan Airlines (JAL) Tuesday for another four Embraer 170 jets. The firm order is already included in Embraer’s backlog as an “undisclosed” customer. With this new agreement, the total number of firm orders for the E170 from JAL is 15 aircraft.
