Built in 1967, the Titan II intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) displayed at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum is one of only five on exhibit in the world.  Developed to deter a Soviet nuclear attack on the United States, over 140 Titan II missiles stood guard during the cold war, capable of striking a target more than 9,300 miles away.  Each missile carried a nine-megaton nuclear warhead, the single largest warhead ever fitted to an American nuclear weapon.
