Don't Call It A Merger: India's Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines Form 'Alliance'

Partnership To Include Route-Sharing, Cross-Training On Fleets

Citing the sharp downturn in the global economy, two Indian airlines announced Monday they will join forces in order to survive. Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines announced an alliance that both carriers hope will "significantly rationalize and reduce costs and provide improved standards of service and a wider choice of air travel options to consumers with immediate effect."

Crashes For Undetermined Reasons Near Houston Suburb

ANN REALTIME REPORTING 10.13.08 1330 EDT: Two persons onboard a news helicopter, type unreported, were killed Monday morning when the helicopter crashed in a wooded area near the Houston suburb of Magnolia, TX.

Source: Richard Stephen Heyser, retired US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and U-2 spy plane pilot who took the first reconnaissance photos of secret missile launch sites during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. In a 2005 interview with the Associated Press, Heyser said that no one was more relieved than he that the crisis ended peacefully, stating he did not want to go down in history as the man who started World War III. Heyser died October 6, at a nursing home in Port St. Joe, FL. He was 81.
