Basket Separated From Envelope 60-Feet Above Pasture

A helium balloon flying low over a cattle pasture hit a power line and went down in north-central Iowa on Friday, November 16. Killed were two men--one from Littleton and the other from Fort Collins--a third man from New Mexico was injured, according to authorities.

Four People On Board

A Cessna with two women and two men on board went missing on Saturday, when it failed to arrive at Meribula, on the far south coast of Australia, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). AMSA says it began searching the entire area between Melbourne-where the flight departed-and Merimbula, but is hoping to receive information from the public which might narrow down the search area.

"I definitely would characterize this as a rare event."

Source: FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor, chatting about a recent collision between a Police helo and a small unmanned advertising blimp. FAA regulations state, a tethered balloon cannot fly higher than 500 feet and it cannot fly within five miles of any airport.
