Two Arrested At JFK Following Lengthy Investigation

Were Reportedly Boarding Separate Flights To Join Terror Groups

Chalk one ... make that two ... up to the good guys. Two New Jersey men with alleged ties to Somali Al Qaeda Al Shabaab were arrested at JFK International Airport Saturday night as they attempted to board separate flights leaving the country.

Mohamed Hamoud Alessa, 20, of North Bergen, and Carlos Eduardo Almonte, 26, of Elmwood Park were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit international terrorism. Officials believe both are U.S. Citizens.

FOXNews.com reports that the two had been the subject of a years-long investigation, but FBI officials would not provide additional details. FBI spokesman Richard Kolko said only that "there was no threat at the airport."

The group reportedly has ties with Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda network, according to the FBI.
