Firm Order Backlog Totals $18.8 Billion
Embraer celebrated a banner year in 2007, making good on its
goal to deliver between 165-170 aircraft. The Brazilian planemaker
delivered 61 commercial, executive, and government-use jets during
the fourth quarter of 2007, resulting in total deliveries for the
year of 169 jets -- its largest total ever. Embraer also touts a
record order backlog of $18.8 billion... meaning production lines
should continue to hum for awhile.
Embraer delivered 45 jets to the commercial aviation segment, 14
business-spec Legacy 600s, and two jets to the Defense and
Government segment during Q4 2007. Also in the period, Embraer
increased the number of customers in its firm order backlog for the
Embraer 170/190 jets family, with the sale of two Embraer 170s to
Suzuyo, from Japan, and 16 Embraer 190s -- 11 to El Salvador's TACA
and five to NAS Air in Saudi Arabia. The planemaker also sold 10
jets to Virgin Nigeria, a mix of 170s and 190s.
Also in the Commercial Aviation segment, US-based Republic
Airways Holdings confirmed 11 options for Embraer 175 jets.
In the Executive Aviation segment, a number of firm orders were
taken for jets from the Phenom family, bringing the total aircraft
sold to over 700. During the same period, the Defense and
Government segment signed contracts with the Royal Thai Army and
the Royal Thai Navy for the sale of two ERJ 135 jets.
Embraer also received a big boost from the 2007 Dubai Air Show,
with the announcement of over $1.1 billion in firm orders, and by
the delivery of the 300th aircraft of the Embraer 170/190 family of
jets to US-based Northwest Airlines, which operates the Embraer 175
aircraft through its regional subsidiary Compass Airlines, under
the Northwest Airlink brand name.
Embraer expects to deliver between 195 and 200 aircraft for 2008
and 2009, not including deliveries of its new Phenom 100 very-light
jet.
