FAA Updates NOTAMs For Obama Visit To Alaska

Multiple TFRs In Place Over The Next Several Days

The FAA has posted details for TFRs for President Obama's visit to Alaska this week. The NOTAMS cover the period from August 31-Sept. 2 at Anchorage, Dillingham, Kotzebue, and Seward in Alaska.

In Seward, a TFR is in place centered on the Kenai VOR/DME (ENA) 099 degree radial at 60.6 nautical miles. (Latitude: 60º07'38"N, Longitude: 149º25'00"W) encompassing 30 nautical miles from the surface up to and including 17999 feet MSL  from September 01, 2015 at 1845 UTC (September 01, 2015 at 1045 AKDT) to September 02, 2015 at 0430 UTC (September 01, 2015 at 2030 AKDT). Two inner rings of 10 nm have also been put in place during the visit.

The second TFR will be in place centered on the Dillingham VOR/DME (DLG) 018 degree radial at 2.9 nautical miles. (Latitude: 59º02'07"N, Longitude: 158º30'03"W) with a 30 nautical mile outer ring and 10 nm inner ring from the surface up to and including 17999 feet MSL from September 02, 2015 at 1930 UTC (September 02, 2015 at 1130 AKDT) to September 02, 2015 at 2315 UTC (September 02, 2015 at 1515 AKDT). Also on September 2, a 30-nautical mile radius TFR with a 10 nm inner ring centered on the Kotzebue VOR/DME (OTZ) 248 degree radial at 1.1 nautical miles. (Latitude: 66º53'01"N, Longitude: 162º35'09"W) from the surface up to and including 17999 feet MSL  will be in place from September 03, 2015 at 0030 UTC (September 02, 2015 at 1630 AKDT) to September 03, 2015 at 0500 UTC (September 02, 2015 at 2100 AKDT).

Then in Anchorage, the TFR will be in place from September 03, 2015 at 0530 UTC (September 02, 2015 at 2130 AKDT) to September 03, 2015 at 0700 UTC (September 02, 2015 at 2300 AKDT) centered on the Anchorage VOR/DME (TED) 023 degree radial at 6.7 nautical miles. (Latitude: 61º15'05"N, Longitude: 149º48'24"W) with a radius of 30 nautical miles with a 10 nm inner ring.

Pilots are advised to check NOTAMS for specific flight restrictions during those times, which are subject to change.
