FoMoCo, Eclipse To Host Camp Scholler Free Films At AirVenture 2006

See The Planes, And Pass The Popcorn!

The show at EAA AirVenture 2006 in Oshkosh won't be over when the sun sets each evening, as the Ford Motor Company and Eclipse Aviation are slated to present top aviation movies at the new "Fly-In Theater" on the AirVenture grounds.

The outdoor theater, located adjacent to EAA's Camp Scholler camping area, will be open each evening (weather permitting) from Sunday, July 23 through Saturday, July 29. EAA representatives tell Aero-News the new walk-in theater is reminiscent of the famous drive-in theaters of the past -- complete with popcorn!

There is no admission charge for the theater, which is open to all AirVenture guests. Each evening's show begins at approximately 8:30 pm -- with an introduction by a celebrity presenter -- followed by a classic aviation film at about 9 pm. A five-story-high projection screen means you'll have to look hard for a bad seat.

(When they say "classic aviation film"... "Airplane!" qualifies, right?-- Ed.)

"Thanks to Ford Motor Company and Eclipse Aviation for teaming up to bring this great addition for everyone attending The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration," said Tom Poberezny, EAA president and AirVenture chairman. "We urge aviation enthusiasts and their families to join us during the week for these popular movies, which will be especially attractive to AirVenture campers. Leave your vehicle parked, but bring a lawn chair or blanket, and have the entire family enjoy a superb way to top off a full day at Oshkosh!"

The Fly-In Theater will be located on the north side of Camp Scholler, at the end of Doolittle Drive, right behind the Camp Store. The exact schedule of movies and presenters will be announced as it is finalized prior to EAA AirVenture 2006.

"Many of us have our own special memories of growing up and watching movies outside against a blackened summer sky," said Vern Raburn, president and CEO of Eclipse Aviation. "Eclipse is proud to sponsor the Fly-In Theater along with Ford Motor Company; it will bring AirVenture attendees together each evening to enjoy some of the most fun and inspiring aviation films of all time. This great program will allow each of us to create wonderful new memories with our friends, families and colleagues, and share them with our fellow AirVenture community members."

The 54th annual EAA fly-in convention is July 24-30 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI.
