Corporation announced its latest sale of a GAT-II®
General Aviation Trainer, to the Chilean Air Force, of
Santiago de Chile.
Fuerza Aerea de Chile's largest military cadet flight training
school in Chile will use the GAT-II to expand its flight training
curriculum for cadets who learn to fly in the T-35 Pillan. A
benefit of utilizing the GAT-II will be to provide training in the
hazards associated with spatial disorientation during flight.
First in South America to get this advanced Spatial
Disorientation training:
Spatial Disorientation training emphasizes the physiological
hazards which pilots could experience. Fuerza Aerea de Chile is the
first customer in South America to offer this type of advanced
pilot training. FAA statistics show that when spatial
disorientation is involved in a mishap, nine out of ten of those
mishaps are fatal.
ETC recently introduced the GAT-II(R) family of motion based,
General Aviation Trainers (GAT-IIs) which are available in Single
Engine, Multi-engine, Helicopter and Regional Jet versions. Each
GAT-II supports VFR, IFR, as well as Spatial Disorientation (SD)
training. The motion platform provides roll, pitch, and yaw in
response to pilot input. The visual display provides an impressive
photo-realistic terrain database with accurate modeling of major
cities and terrain features. The list of features includes
selectable meteorological conditions, instructor selectable
malfunctions; various map views and contains all FAA listed
airports and navaids.
