Build It, Move It Or Start Paying Rent

British Pub Owner Figuring Out What To Do With His Vulcan

Authorities in Manchester, England, say pub owner Chris Ollerenshaw has three choices: he can move it, pay rent on it or build it and put it on display -- somewhere else.

They're talking about Ollerenshaw's British Vulcan, a bomber he bought on the Internet. Really.

Ollerenshaw bought the Vulcan in an online auction from the Blackpool Aviation Center. He bought it in pieces, which is part of the reason he's in trouble with town officials. They've given him another week to get rid of the parts.

That's exactly what Ollerenshaw plans to do. He says he'll dismantle the 160-foot long aircraft, then have a dozen "lorries" (big trucks) come to the Snipe Inn and haul it all away.

But the Vulcan will soon grace Ollerenshaw's beer garden again if he has his way. All it takes is permission from the Manchester Planning Council.

But there have already been two objections to Ollerenshaw's idea before the planning council. The earliest the can get a permit to put the cold war bomber in his beer garden would be next month.
