FAA's Part 145 AC is Published

What the Agency's Looking For in Part 145's Future

AC 145-9 is the FAA guide for developing and evaluating the Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual required by Part 145, and the Aircraft Electronics Association notes that it is significantly revised from the proposed AC 145-MAN.

The AEA notes, "The new AC is much easier to read, with only four sections:

  • General Information;
  • Manual Revisions and Controls;
  • Repair Station Organization Chart;
  • and Repair Station and Quality Control Manual Elements."

The FAA makes the point, in the AC, that the AC does not provide a complete sample RSM and QCM for all repair stations. However, it does include examples that illustrate one of many possible ways to comply with the regulations. Each repair station will need to evaluate the manual requirements against their own operations.

The AEA is currently reviewing the AC (triggered by AFS-340). A review of the technical contents will be published by the Association at a later date. AEA is also engaged in developing a RSM and QCM guidance document to assist member companies in composing compliant manuals.

This guidance document will be available in August.
