Avidyne Announces Release 7.0 Upgrade For Entegra

Enables WAAS Data Display On PFDs

Avidyne Corporation announced this week at AirVenture 2007 the Release 7.0 software upgrade for Entegra EXP5000 Primary Flight Displays (PFDs) and EX5000 Multi-Function Displays (MFDs) that will add support for WAAS instrument approach procedures.

Avidyne tells ANN its authorized service centers will remove and send the EXP5000 PFDs to Avidyne for upgrade, test and recertification to support WAAS GPS navigation inputs. To minimize installation downtime Avidyne strongly recommends that owners accomplish the Release 7.0 upgrade at the same time as they upgrade their Garmin GPS receivers, antennas and wiring. Avidyne notified dealers in March that Release 7.0 would be required to support WAAS. EXP5000 owners should not perform the Garmin GPS WAAS upgrade prior to installing Release 7.0.

Release 7.0 flash memory and other upgrades for the EX5000 MFD that bring the display software up to current factory-new levels may be completed by Avidyne dealers.

Avidyne is accepting orders now for the Release 7.0 upgrade for Entegra-equipped Cirrus and Columbia aircraft, and for Envision/Alliant aircraft, for delivery later in Q3. Availability of Release 7.0 for Entegra-equipped Piper aircraft will be forthcoming.

Pricing for the Release 7.0 Entegra software upgrade for systems covered under a new product warranty or the FLEX Service Program is $2,395 for systems with a single PFD and single MFD, and $3,895 for systems with a dual PFDs and a single MFD. All customers who previously upgraded to Release 6 are eligible for in-warranty pricing.

Pricing is $3,895 for single PFD and single MFD systems with pre-Release 6 software and no longer under warranty.
