Avfuel Teamed With MDOT To Train Airport Fuel Personnel
Avflight Lansing, Ann Arbor, MI-based Avfuel Corporation, and the MDOT Office of Aeronautics have partnered for many years to host an aviation fuel safety seminar in Lansing at the Office of Aeronautics.
The purpose is to train certificated airport fuel personnel and transport delivery drivers in the proper receipt, handling, and dispensing of Avgas and Jet fuel.
This year, 83 people attended the four-day seminar October 3 – 6, exploring such topics as OSHA requirements, NFPA new rules, NATA safety procedures and fire training.
AvFuel Corporation Randy Harrison, Victoria Joy, and Craig Chrystall presented segments on a variety of topics including proper filtration, quality control, fuel handling, testing, spills, leaks and contamination, and best safety practices.
“Misfueling and contamination of fuel is still a problem in the U.S.," said the state’s chief airport inspector, Randy Coller. "If we can prevent just one misfueling event or the contamination of fuel delivered to an airport, then the program is a success. The safety record of Avfuel and their dealers is a testimony to the success of this training.”
