Will Begin Ground Tests Shortly
Aero-News has learned the first
Embraer Phenom 100 very-light-jet was rolled out Saturday at the
company’s headquarters in São José dos Campos,
Brazil.
“We are thrilled to see the Phenom 100 become a
reality,” said Luís Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive
Vice President, Executive Jets. “We are confident that the
Phenom 100’s premium comfort, outstanding performance and low
operating cost will impress our customers and will become the
benchmark of the Very Light Jet segment.”
“The roll-out of the first Phenom 100 is a landmark
achievement that reflects the commitment and unrelenting drive of
our engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to accomplish this
goal,” said Henrique Langenegger, Embraer Vice President,
Programs – Executive Jets. “With more than 400
engineers dedicated to the Phenom 100 program over the last two
years, the adoption of cutting-edge technologies enabled a
paperless design process, an efficient integration of over 50
suppliers, serial production tooling for the very first aircraft,
and fully-digital quality assurance.”
Next stop for the first Phenom is the paint shop, where it will
receive its branded paint scheme. The plane will then begin a
series of ground tests over the next few weeks, in preparation for
its first flight.
The Phenom 100 was launched in May 2005. The first metal cut of
the Phenom 100 took place in May 2006, utilizing a digital mock-up
of the aircraft developed with CATIA V5 engineering software.
