Cutter Comes To Collin County

FBO Opens Its Seventh Facility At Growing TKI

Aero-News has learned that effective March 1st, 2006, Cutter Aviation will take over fixed-base operations at the Collin County Regional Airport (TKI) in McKinney, TX. Cutter will assume operations from WingsPoint Aviation Services.

"This is a strategic move for Cutter that expands our FBO 'footprint' throughout the Southwest" said Will Cutter, CEO. "As of 1991, over a dozen of the world's largest companies have moved their headquarters to the area. As more companies have come to McKinney to do business, more have stayed."

"In fact, 86 percent of the companies in the Richardson, Plano and Allen corridor are closer to McKinney than they are to Dallas airports," Cutter added. The TKI operation will be Cutter's seventh FBO facility.

The move comes as the McKinney airport implements a variety of changes to make the single-runway field more attractive to corporate customers. The main taxiway adjacent Runway 17-35 has been revised, with enlarged turnaround aprons added to accommodate larger jets.

The airport, owned by the City of McKinney, is also adding taxiway access to the airport's developing west hangar area.

Collin County Regional, located northeast of the DFW metroplex, is actively recruiting corporate operators that may be displaced from Dallas Love Field as that airport sees an increase in commercial airline traffic. Other Dallas-area airports, including Addison (ADS) and Dallas Executive (RDB), are also going after such business.

Cutter also has an operation at Dallas Executive, in southeastern Dallas.

Founded in 1928, Cutter Aviation is one of the country’s oldest general aviation service companies. The company operates facilities in Albuquerque, NM; Deer Valley and Phoenix, AZ; and El Paso, Dallas, McKinney and San Antonio, TX. In addition to providing standard FBO sales and maintenance services, the company also provides charter services and operates a full service travel agency.
