Congressman Marc Veasey Rolls Up His Sleeves At Bell Helicopter

Veasey Works With Bell Helicopter For His October ‘Marc Means Business’ Work Day

Bell Helicopter on Friday hosted U.S. Congressman Marc Veasey (D-TX) at its Repair and Overhaul Center as part of his Marc Means Business initiative. Through this ongoing initiative, Rep. Veasey visits and performs work at a variety of businesses across the DFW Metroplex.

“We are delighted to host the Congressman through the Marc Means Business initiative,” said Bell Helicopter president and CEO Mitch Snyder. “Rep. Veasey has been a strong advocate for the aerospace and defense industry, including Bell Helicopter and its employees, and has served as an effective voice for North Texas on economic and national security issues.”

Bell Helicopter’s Repair and Overhaul facility is home to blade repair and gearbox overhaul operations for Bell Boeing V-22, Bell AH-1W, AH-1Z, and UH-1Y aircraft operated by U.S. military operators. Following a facility tour and safety briefing, Congressman Veasey learned how to perform sanding, patching and prep work on a composite V-22 blade as well as breakdown and inspection of an V-22 gearbox.

“Today, I learned the real-world perspective of the hard-working men and women who work diligently to keep our warfighters flying, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing Bell Helicopter and the larger rotorcraft industry,” commented Rep. Veasey. “Bell Helicopter remains a strong employer in Texas and a key provider of vertical lift aircraft critical to our nation’s defense, and I am honored to represent their interests here in Texas and back in DC.”
