Airliner Orders On The Upswing

Parts Suppliers Getting A Boost From Increased Production

With both Boeing and Airbus announcing increases in production levels in 2011, the companies that make the parts which make up those airplanes are hiring staff and increasing production as well.

Companies like Goodrich, Spirit Aerosystems Holdings, B/E Aerospace, and others are poised to make more sales, according to a report in Reuters. Rockwell Collins said it could hire as many as 800 workers as a result of the upturn in airliner production, and Spirit Aerosystems said it was doing "controlled hiring."

The surge is being driving by strong order books at both Airbus and Boeing, which have announced increases in production particularly in their single-aisle lines. One analyst told Reuters that he expects to see orders and deliveries north of 1,000 units this year.
